Bindi Harris studied Fine Art at Bristol Polytechnic and graduated with a BA (Hons) in 1991.
At college, Bindi’s work concentrated on exploring her relationship with herself and her family. These works showed the beginnings of her journey of self-discovery and spirituality.
In the following years as a full time artist, Bindi’s focus has shifted to her inner world, finding symbols to create a personal story. Sometimes Bindi’s work is exposing and there are hints to its meaning, almost daring the observer to make a choice, to take some time and delve a little deeper into the imagery, but also about themselves and what effect the work has on them.
Bindi calls her paintings “slow release paintings” and is fascinated by how the work seems to take its own time, how the image almost chooses to reveal more and more of what is underneath, with the first impression not always being the true meaning.
Bindi says “I relate my work to meeting someone for the first time. We have a first impression and, only if we have a willingness to explore and spend some time, will there be any deepening, and relationship develops. It is the same with my work.”
Bindi's work forms an integral part of many significant international collections.
